Busey Brews

Harris Dewart completed the ground-up commercial construction of Busey Brews Smokehouse & Brewery in Nederland, Colorado, delivering a purpose-built restaurant and brewery designed for long-term performance. The project required careful coordination from early planning through construction to support restaurant operations, customer flow, and durability in a mountain environment.

At the heart of the build is a first-of-its-kind structural solar roof — believed to be the first of its kind on a restaurant and brewery. Working collaboratively with the owner, our team helped bring his vision to life using bifacial solar panels that serve a dual purpose: generating renewable energy for the building while sheltering patrons as they enjoy the Busey Brews experience below. Integrating the solar array as a structural element — rather than a rooftop add-on — required close coordination between design, engineering, and construction to ensure the system performed as both a power source and a functional, weather-ready canopy.

Our team managed the build process with a focus on quality execution, efficient sequencing, and schedule control. The completed space provides a functional, welcoming environment tailored to food service and brewery use, anchored by a roof system that reflects the owner’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. This project highlights our experience delivering ground-up commercial construction — and forward-thinking, performance-driven building solutions — across Nederland and the Colorado Front Range.
